No amount of advertisements can equal the power of positive customer testimonials. According to research, nearly 95 percent of online shoppers read customer reviews before buying a product. When it comes to local businesses, 93% of local consumers use reviews to determine if a local business is worth the money. Simply saying that your products and services are the best is not going to cut it. You need to be able to prove that you have delivered on those promises.

This is why customer testimonials are so crucial. They allow you to tap into your satisfied customers and convert them into your biggest fans. These positive reviews will, in turn, create more satisfied customers, who you can also convert into testimonials. If done correctly, it’s a highly beneficial cycle that helps grow your business.

Regardless if you are just starting out, or already have people who will speak to how great your brand is, the formula is the same. First, always be sure to follow up with your customers after they purchase and ask about their experience. If their feedback is positive, ask them if they would be willing to provide a short testimonial to help you attract more customers. You can take this a step further by encouraging them to point out three positive things that came out of their experience with your company. These positive things can include low prices, timely delivery, benefits provided, positive outcome, or an enjoyable experience. The key is to encourage your happy customers to speak openly about why they will continue to buy from you.

Once you have a testimonial, you will want to create a piece of content to showcase it. Ideally, this piece of content has your logo and brand colors. You can create something by using a free graphic design service such as Venngage or Cavana. You will also want to create a section on your website where all your visitors can see it while they view your products.

As we covered in an earlier editorial, showcasing positive customer feedback is integral to growing your business and gaining more customers. Consumers are attracted to stories where you helped someone just like them solve a problem they are currently having. If you can prove you have done before it, they are more likely to give your brand a chance. Customer testimonials are ideal for capturing a few positive thoughts from a satisfied customer. However, case studies allow you to showcase your success story from beginning to end.

In simple terms, a case study allows you to break down a successful project, event, or sale in a way that showcases your skills to the reader. This type of content can back up claims that you can deliver value, live up to your word, and provide the service you are promising. Pick a success story you want to share and follow the simple template below.

The Problem or Challenge
This is where you examine the situation and identify what the problem or challenge was that you needed to solve.

Your Solution
What was the solution that your company provided? This is where you provide details and give the reader a sneak peek at what to expect if they work with you.

The Outcome
What was the result? Talk about how your solution solved their problem. This is where you can include the aforementioned customer testimonials, as well as your contact information and website address.

Once you write out your case study, you can work with a free platform such as Canva to create a professional-looking piece of content to share with your prospects and customers.

Dave Ramsey is a best selling author and radio show host. After losing everything he had worked hard for and earned, he wished that he would have learned from the wisdom of others who have been through the same thing. He went on a quest to find out how money really works, how he could take control of it, and how he could have confidence in handling it.

Here are 10 tips from Dave Ramsey:

  1. Zero-based budget
  2. Use cash: using cash saves on average 15-20% on purchases because you spend it differently. Studies show that when using cash, it is harder to part with it and you analyze the purchase differently.
  3. Take care of 4 walls. Take care of the things that are the most important to your survival first, including food, housing, transportation, and clothing.
  4. Live Like no one else so later you can live like no one else. Live like no one else now by sacrificing to reach your long term goals. Then later, you get to live with freedom like no one else!
  5. You don’t need a credit score. You shouldn’t worry about a credit score because you don’t need it for most things. Just don’t have a bad score.
  6. Use sinking funds. Sinking funds is just savings for things that don’t come up every month. These include things like Christmas, vehicle registration, birthdays, taxes.
  7. Pay off Debt using the debt snowball method.
  8. Save $1000 Before paying off debt. Saying $1000 as a baby emergency fund will be your buffer before paying off debt. This will keep you from going further into debt while trying to pay it off.
  9. Save 3-6 months expenses. Save for emergencies by saving 3-6 months of your expenses in case of a job loss or some other disaster.
  10. Act your WAGE. Stop acting like you are rich and buying things you can’t afford.

5 Components of Emotional Intelligence


Last week, we introduced a new editorial section called Emotional Intelligence. For those who need a brief refresher, emotional intelligence is defined as the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically. In simple terms, someone with high emotional intelligence is aware of the person they are, the impact they are having, and can carry themselves professionally and productively.

Here are the five components of emotional intelligence and how they relate to your everyday life.

Self-Awareness
Being self-aware means understanding your personality, strengths, weaknesses, goals, and the impact you have on the world around you. Being a self-aware individual means, you fully understand what you bring to any situation and how your actions are positively and negatively impact the people around you.

Self-Regulation
Self-regulation is all about controlling your thoughts and emotions. You may get upset or angry, but you do not let that impact your thought process or your actions. Regardless of what is happening around you, someone who can self-regulate always makes decisions based on facts and consequences.

Motivation
A high achiever is someone who is self-motivated to keep working towards their goals long after their initial motivation is gone. Being self-motivated means, you contain a personal drive to consistently improve and achieve regardless of issues, roadblocks, or setbacks. Unlike others, you may know, you do not stop just because something went wrong.

Empathy
Empathy is the ability to feel what another person is feeling. Basically, you can view someone going through an issue and relate to them on a personal level, even if you never went through that same issue. Individuals who can accomplish this can learn a great deal from other people and use it to their advantage.

Social Skills
Social skills refer to your ability to handle and influence the emotions of other people. As a leader, this means you can control someone when they are feeling strong emotions and make sure things do not get out of hand. It also means that you can communicate in a fashion that motivates people to match the emotion they are feeling at that moment to what you are feeling.
