One of the top reasons people don’t follow through on pursuing their dreams in self-doubt. That little voice in our head that prevents us from moving forward with something we want to do. We convince ourselves of lies that we aren’t good enough, smart enough, or talented enough to achieve more in life. We are so afraid of not matching up or failing in the end that we don’t even attempt to start.

However, have you ever stopped to figure out where all that self-doubt comes from? Why does your mind shift to negative thoughts and end with telling yourself you should just give up. If you dig deep enough, you will find that someone along the way did this to you. Someone, at some point in your life, hurt you.

When you think about trying something new, different, exciting, or challenging, what stops you? What thought always pops into your head. Someone put that thought there. Maybe it was your parents always scolding you for not getting good grades. It could be your boss from a past job that was always criticizing your work. You might have so-called “friends” who are afraid you are doing better than them and, therefore, always have to point out the downside of whatever you are trying to accomplish.

The bottom line is your self-doubt is a collection of lies. These lies have been formed over time by people who intentionally or unknowingly hurt you with their words and actions. You think you can’t do it because someone else told you that, not because it’s true. All those barriers that were preventing you from greatness aren’t real. Once you realize this, you will be able to move towards those goals and dreams you’ve avoided for so long.
